Aloha Haider! I am agreeing with you yet I have to comment on the word “balance”. I see so many fret because they feel they are out of “balance” that they must get things into “balance” and so on. The word has put a lot of pressure on our lives. Perhaps the more compassionate way would be to have “harmony”? i know for me looking back over my life much of the time may have not been balanced but may have been harmonious. Not all parts equal as in balancing out but all parts working well together. Just my 2 cents my friend πŸ™‚

Aloha Gina!

I must admit, “harmony” is a much nicer word than “balance”, but I have several reasons for why I prefer the latter.

I think “harmony” applies to the consistency between the life areas, and removing conflicting goals (what I tend to refer to as “alignment”).

Being “off-balance” is a good thing when the circumstances you are facing demand that you focus on one life area more than others. However, this should always be a temporary phase you go through, and not a life-long pattern. “Disharmony” sounds like a crisis that needs to be dealt with immediately, and not tolerated for a second!

I would say it’s important to develop a sense of whether there’s something that needs improving in our lives, and not to panic if there is. Many people – myself included – can easily forget about living the life we want as we try and “fix” things in our lives.

It’s best to see “life balance” as a means to better serve our lives than a god we dedicate our lives to serving.

Thank you for your 2 cents. They’re worth a lot more than that in my bank! πŸ˜‰

Aloha My Dear Friend!
I love your explanation and I know for me having the different parts in my life in “harmony” make life so much less urgent and stressful as the parts even in imbalance can work well together even supporting each other while making a beautiful life. Like music the notes are not balanced, yet in their uniqueness and imbalance they can create harmony.
Balance feels rigid, short sighted and like with one misplaced step you’re toast!

Thank you for your kind words, I treasure your thoughts and ideas as well!

Long live communication πŸ™‚

Aloha Gina!

I shall refrain from commenting on this topic here, since it’s the subject of my next blog post. πŸ˜‰

Ah Ha! Wonderful, I will savor the next video I am sure. Mahalo for all you do Haider to bring awareness into our lives.
Wishing you Great Peace~

And mahalo to you for contributing to the discussion. πŸ™‚

It looks like the next post will be an article, not a video. πŸ™

Still not feeling that great, I’m afraid…

As I always say life is perfect with it’s imperfections and it is these imperfections that are the driving force towards perfection (will blog about it sometime).

Imbalance is necessary to drive the need to achieve balance otherwise what are we here to do ? However, I do prefer the word harmony as Gina used it coz it is ok to be out of balance sometimes but to lose harmony is what really affects you.

And the way people balance things is different based on individual needs and for someone to force upon you their way of balance might off set yours. I am thinking in terms of an acrobat walking on a string it is not the same as walking on ground. Only another acrobat will understand πŸ™‚

Fate, it’s very common for people to evaluate other people’s lives according to their own preferences and values. But other people aren’t the measure of what balance is (of course, their advice may be sensible).

To know whether you are balanced or not, you’d have to take a big picture view of your own life, and look at the areas that might need more attention. Other people’s lifestyles may serve as useful reference points, but it ultimately boils down to your own values, and to what extent your lifestyle serves your well-being.
